my corsair 700 is not putting out full power which I belive is leading to my bsod with my evga 770.  I have put back in my nvida 550 and it has bsod a few times as well which leads me to my power supply going bad. A friend put some kinda of power tester to it and he claims it is missing 5w but im not a computer tech so i have no idea about that .. I just want my evga 770 to run ..  What do any of you recommend to run my evga 770. I was thinking of going for an over kill and getting a 1000.. Ideas ? recommendations ? I usually buy off new egg...

my pc basicly is a asus cm6850 and all i have upgraded is the power supply and the graphics card

this would do well and 650 is more than enough to power what you have. unless you are going to go SLI then you might want to go 800ish

I have been using a Thermaltake  850 watt BlackWidow PSU for over 3 I/2 yrs with no problems whatsoever . It has the cable management system  (you only connect  the    
cables you actually need - eliminating a snarl of extra wiring).   I was using two GTX's 260 in SLI and a six core processor with no problems. Now using a single GTX560TI .
Was not overly expensive then and may be cheaper now.

^ Yup, 650w will do. Just be sure to get one from a quality builder. Companies with a good reputation for  quality PSUs are Antec, Corsair, Enermax, Thermaltake, Silverstone, Coolermaster...

Is your current PSU still under warranty? Most manufacturers are very good about handing out replacements, and it never hurts to have a spare. Of course, double check your connections and inspect the lines. It could be as simple as a kink or loose connection. If it happens to be a busted cable that has a spare twin, you can just chop and terminate it.

And consider yourself lucky; many dying PSUs tend to destroy other components in the process. My semi-recent PSU death killed my HTPC motherboard Though it was about 6 years old... But i guess it gave me a good excuse to upgrade.

EDIT: It appears that the 770's require 42amps on the 12v. You usually don't need to meet that unless  you have a few HDDs or like to OC your components. So  get a PSU with something greater - or close to - 40a.

Well I went with the Thermaltake 850w. I know its more then I need but one never can have to much right ... I just intalled it and turned it on, guess I put it in right lol... Hope this solves my BSOD we shall see .. fingers crossed !

My oldest PSU is a Cooler Master 800 though. Retired from gaming and now living comfortably in my media box.
