You actually don't need the in-game maps to check out players. Just hit P on the keyboard.

Learn something new every day. I find I don't really use the compass either.

Airstrips, army bases, piano houses, schools. They all have the best gear, most often. When looking through barracks, be sure to go to prove and look under the bunks.
Any time i come across a water source, i fill my canteen and drink until full. You can also fill canteen or water bottle in the rain.
Is like to know how you found so many maps, Happy. Over 100 hours in,and I've only found a single pieced. I use the Dayz app and hence I have no use for the pieces - I'm only curious.

Bah, I find map pcs everwhere lol, I do not use em and since the screen shot I got rid of them as I do not use em either.
Also for ammo boxes, if you spend a lot of time at the Bolota Airfield, go across the road to the other base, always lots there.

Just picked up an ammo box at the NWAF. Also started seeing lots of crossbows but I haven't touched them since I have only seen one bolt so far. Had runs of decent/bad luck this morning. Got geared up again after the game hiccups, killed somebody who happened to spawn in front of me. Then another guy and myself killed each other. Had a random character reset. Took a nose dive twice off stairs, once was only a small shack. I don't know how that could kill you. All in all a good morning though.

So are you guys playing the DayZ mod for ARMA 2 or the new dedicated DayZ game?

Standalone. You can check your bearing without stopping, too. "inspect" your compass while on the move, and it still functions, so no more stopping to put it on your hands. The clouds always move west to east, so the compass isn't necessary, but still handy to have.

It was very nice, Â playing a few hours with Foolkiller, Matt, Â Happy, Â and Tet. Â I've played with groups a few times, Â but never before with BK. Fun stuff.
Dayz is the only game to get the adrenaline pumping. Having fear of being killed in game is  an unfamiliar thing...

That is so true, Abram. When you die in BF4 you hit the respawn button and appear with all your equipment. When you die in DayZ, you lose it all. If that doesn't get the blood pumping then not sure what would in a game.
