Well, I have v-sync on, so that acts sort of as a govenor for fps, but with my new set up I get a steady 60 fps in game no matter what.
My gear:
Core 2 Quad 9400 @ 2.66 GHz with FSB of 1333 MHz
4 GB DDR2 800MHz
GTX 275 Video Card (from EVGA) with Samsung Synmaster 226BW LCD Monitor
Asus P5Q-E Motherboard
Seagate 500 GB SATA 3 GB/s HDD
FPS shoot up a lot higher if I disable v-sync, but I don't like the tearing effect you will get with a sudden change in object to be rendered.
NOTE: I didn't go SLI because the performance gain is not worth the overall heat gain for running two (or three) cards or the cost.

I don't know my FPS because I don't know how to check, but I have no complaints with the following setup - also plays Crysis well.
Intel Core2 Duo 2.13Ghz 800Mhz bus
Corsair 2GB RAM (only 667Mhz)
250GB SATA II HD Seagate
Nvidia 9800GTX
Windows XP SP3
Nothing is overclocked, no special anything. not even a swanky keyboard or mouse. I use a trackball and an old HP keyboard.
If someone can tell me how to check FPS (without installing something like FRAPS), I'd appreciate it. Don't know the console command.

I get between 160 and 190 during combat and I have Maxfps set at 333 which is what it will run in non-combat.
My system
Intel Core Duo 8600 Overclocked to to 3.9 Mhz running at 1700 FSB
4 gig high speed memory running at 1333 Mhz
Two GTX 260 running in SLI
Four 150 gig raptors - two stripped for Windows 7 - and two stripped for games

Nema,
About a month ago I built a $700 System and I get 100-140 fps on most maps, kneedeep is the only one where I am 80-100 most of the time...
Anyhow, I built an AMD Phenom II x3 2.8ghz system with 6gb of 1333mhz ram on a Geforce 275, I play at 1900x1080 resolution with 4x aa nd 16x AF.
If you want any suggestions on peicing a new system together from Newegg that wont break the bank, let me know. You can build an excellent gamming rig for <700.
