One question about backing up my CoD5 profile. When I reformat my hard drive, and get to the point where CoD5 is fully installed once again, I can just copy my backed up profile from a Flashdrive or external hard drive to my profile in game without any Punk buster complications?

My initial thought is that it should work fine..but then I'm not sure if the profile is dependent on the CoD5 GUID that is assigned to you at the time of installation.  Moreover, I have no idea if the GUID is the same per licensed copy, or if it changes with each install.  I'm sure someone here has had to reinstall CoD5...I've been lucky Smile.

No I know for sure that the GUID is connected to the activation key, so as long as yo use the same activation key the GUID will remain the same.

I don't believe the profile cares about the guid.  To be on the safe side, create a new character with the name you want after you re-install.  Then copy the config.cfg, config_mp.cft and mpdata files from your backed up profile into the new profile directory.  This is similar to the "rename your character to add BK tags" process found elsewhere in these forums.

Also if you are still trying to delete the virus make sure to turn off system restore and you may have to delete the old restores.  Viruses, adaware, spyware and malware like to attach itself the the restores.  Boot into safe mode and run Malwarebytes a couple of times, reboot after each run.  It may take several attempts to remove the pest.  You can also pull the drive slap it into another system and do a scan that way, this will eliminate anything running in the background. I do alot of these as a side job, easy money.

I would think he has his virus problem fixed since the last thread on it was June of 09, until someone restarted it in January of 2010.
