So my PS3 has decided to die apparantly. It won't stay on for more than a minute or 2 before shutting itself off and blinking a little red light.
Anyone know the best way to handle this? Is there a decent self-fix guide that can help me? It's an older model with 80GB that plays all the PS1/2 games as well. I don't know if anyone here has ever worked with consoles before, but I would certainly appreciate the advice, although I really don't want to spend all the money for Sony to repair it if it is something very minor such as a loose wire or something.

Had the same problem. In few days it will probably die completely... I'm sorry.

There are fixes where you heat up some parts of the console insides, and all... But I would find a PS3 unofficial service, where they would change your motherboard. It should cost up to 200$ i think...
