I am going to build a gaming rig within the next few weeks and I need advice on a Graphics card more likely CARDS. I am ATI all the way. What is the best setup out there for dual ATI cards? Is the 6800’s or 6900’s better than 5800’s or 5900’s? I have seen several reviews and they are both close.  I have everything else all squared away but the GPU’s.  I will be buying high end cards so please share your thoughts.

BEST single card is still the 5970 but it packs a hefty price tag!  (still better then any of the 6000 series GPUs)  They also just released a 4 GB 5970 for a grand!!! (CHA CHING!! OUCH)

I am not inpressed with any of the 6000's. Maybe the 6990 will be worth while. I sure cant drop a grand on a card. Thanks.

I have a 5970 (1GB ram) (got it when it first came out too, yay for good Tax returns), and I absolutely love the thing!  It never seems like its even trying, partly because the rest of my rig is worse, and partly because it is so much faster than any game requires at the moment.  I put Crysis: Warhead at max settings (12x antialiasing) and get and average of 85 fps, with the lowest dip ive seen yet being 47 ( i always run Fraps).

If you have the money, id say go for that, because there are many games that still only use one gpu.  but, if you are set on Crossfiring, I'd suggest the 5800 series.  these are much cheaper, and they are pretty fast in their own right. Crossfire a couple of 5870's and you'll blow even my card out of the water.

Hope this helps!
