System Spec:
CPU: Duo Core 8400
Newly installed: GTX 460
Creative Fatal1ty Platinum sound card
6 gigs Balistc Dual Channel.

I installed the new GTX460 by EVGA.  When I am just surfing or anything un-game related its fine.   I start Black Ops and begin to load a map system shuts down... Any idea?  Could this be a lack of power?

How hot is the GPU getting before it shuts down?

You all are awesome.  I appreciate your responses very much.   After sleeping on it (actually I was awake most of the night thinking of what it could be).   Then it dawned on me.  When I was moving the mobo to its new case I noticed that the CPU fan wasn't completely on.  I "THOUGHT" I re-seated it.   So 5:30 am this morning  I unplugged it and opened her up.  Noticed it wasn't seated at all.

So I removed the CPU fan cleaned off the Thermal grease and re-applied the grease re-seated the CPU fan and VOILA works like a dream.

Again, thank you all for your responses.  Sleep helped me figure it out.

Me too, that's why my first thought was that it was overheating. I now run full liquid cooling and my temps stay below 35deg C in game, but I still keep a temp monitoring program running in the background just to be safe.

HA!  Just had the same issue but my cpu fan died.  Just replaced it..  Now it's working fine.

At least it was an easy fix!!

BTW,

The GTX460 is quite nice.  I am able to push everything at max and it runs nicely and the eye candy is sweet!
