If BK adopted running from cover to cover, would certainly add realism to our 'tacticall / war like' servers....

Just so you guys are aware, EA will take away your server stat ranking if they catch you forcing rules like that. I have a friend who is an admin for them.

Immo, I don't follow...it's no different than having 'crouch only, no bunny hopping, etc. rules that we currently have in place, or am I missing something?

well, last time we did a battlefield game, we didnt have any gameplay restriction rules. just language rules.

I don't think you understand just how big these maps will be. Bigger than BC2 thats for sure. Remember you get to fly Jets in this game, really really fast jets, so you can imagine the immense landscapes that would be required to fly jets around without going out of bounds. Enforcing any movement restrictions, would in my opinion ruin the game. We should however enforce no bunny hopping, dolphin diving and language.

Exactly Strand, these maps if they are anything like BF2 will be so big it would take at least a minute to run from one end to the next. Some were so large that the game could end before you got to the other side on foot. But enforcing the other stuff you mentioned would be no problem I think with EA. In my last clan we were informed of the same thing but after checking with EA (our clan leader knew someone also) we were told as long as it did not get ridiculous there should be no issue. We enforced no DD, bunnyhopping, or bad language and never had an issue with EA. From what I remember the only issues they had with servers were the stat padding servers they did start to crack down on the pistol/knife only servers but for the most part most servers ran the rules they wanted.

Ranked servers are licensed by EA, and they won't let you put certain restrictions on your server. Such as weapon restrictions, vehicle restrictions. Bunny hopping they don't care about. However I believe having crouch only would most likely get server ranking taken away.

Also, no offense, but crouch only in a battlefield game is rather silly. The maps are WAY too big.

Guys come on, it's me here, I'm as anti movement restriction as you get.   Good grief, I am not a 'crouch potato', and would never propose anything as ridiculous as that in a battlefield series game.
The quote above was supposed to refer to CoD Blk Ops (my mistake, did not make that clear).

No problem CapZac didnt think you were advocating it, just threw out my experience with it especially the rules part. As for the rules part that was what I was referring to Immo, the rules about "exploiting" part or movements in the game to keep from getting killed. That was what the guy told us before with BF2; those would not incur the wraith of EA.
