I got to fire a M4 for the first time today. I got this weapon cold non sited. I fired 10 rounds in about 40 seconds and think I did very well for the first time with this weapons. I was about about 100m away and I think I did very well.
So how did I do?

I'd say you did great under any conditions but with a cold, weapon that you hadn't zeroed in, wow. What position were you shooting from?

Wow - the M4 I believe is about 3 MOA at 100m. I don't see any serious flyers (for 10 rounds) and I am very impressed for not dialed in (factory iron sights cold) - standing or crouched. I probably couldn't do
that on my best day without a single flyer (out-side of 10 MOA) - and I use to shoot comp in my teenage years and still shoot a few times a month. I have noticed that some people are just a natural and some people have a learning curve. Your certainly a natural shooter, being your first time and especially cold. If I lived near you - I would be taking you to the range myself as a shooting partner and encourage you to enter comps.
You should seriously keep this up - being a natural at something means with more practice you could be in the top percentile in comps.
Great job - glad to know the GOA is a Top Shot!
Well done.

Great Job, Luke. Was this an indoor range?

Ahhh prone - for some reason I thought you were in a different position - must of misread. Anyways it is still an excellent grouping for iron sights not being dialed in. Keep it up - very well done indeed.
I use to shoot 22lr 300ft comp open sights - part of the youth program. Seemed like another life time (almost 30 years ago). It was a great time. I remember one kid that was just a natural crack shot, I only beat him once at 100m.
In the Navy I never shot much for military purposes (was a CT/EW - more of a computer jockey), but did continue to shoot sporting clays, trap, and 5-stand and also picked up a few 223 and 308s for shooting in my free time. What always kept me coming back was making those long range bulls eyes at 300m or 500m. I love long range shooting, if I am not shooting shot guns (I just can't get enough of sporting clays - try to shoot every weekend with my son). Like golf, you keep coming back to enjoy the great shots you had. Feels great!
Keep it up - very well done indeed.

I got to visit my wife's unit well they where at the range. They let me fire a clip of 10 rounds just for fun. I was not planning on it and just took a M4 for the locker so it was cold. (Didn't want to screw up anyone's sighted M4 when they where trying to qualify.) I enjoyed it the M4 is a very nice rifle.
