Are Dedicated Servers Ranked or UnRanked?
Only matchmaking to public games are Ranked (meaning, you have to rank up to unlock weapons to rank on the leaderboards), choosing to play on a Dedicated Server is UnRanked. Meaning unlocks are completely controlled by the Server Admin. They can choose to unlock everything or limit class restrictions to whatever they like to fully customize the experience. You do not have to rank up in Public games to have access to weapons in Dedicated Servers, you have complete control over what is unlocked for you in a Unranked Dedicated Server.
So this means no ranked servers and no way to unlock weapons in ranked servers. Very disappointing in the way they are treating the PC community.

So will you be buying it now that there are no dedicated servers?

IMO that's good, they aren't forcing people to follow their own messed up game play formula

This is a poor design, in my opinion. Part of the enjoyment I get from gaming is the sense of accomplishment from progression. If I get everything handed to me in an unranked server, then I am bored and don't enjoy it. However, I never wanted to play MW3, so this has no impact on my plans.

I agree with Damon, I was not planning on owning the game and this is just another reason for me not to purchase this game.

If I am reading this website posting by 402 correctly l (why I bother is another issue) - they are NOT allowing dedicated servers to be ranked? What are they smoking now....
IMO - dedicated servers that are not "ranked" will be DOA so why bother. It would seem that they are counting on bad press to keep people interested in the game rather than putting out a product that will take on and beat out the competition.
Bring on BF3!!!

Honestly my plans for MW3 was to wait for a price drop and then get it. All of the CoD games I own were because of the Single Player Campaign. I got Black Op's after Medal of Honor, I beat MoH in a day, On hard.. then went to pick up Black Ops. I played the single player campaign, beat it on hard again after a Rainy Saturday and then I found the BK (Polite & Friendly) Servers and well here I am. I was in a great caln for Battlefield 2 and honestly I have not had as much fun since then (I am Having fun here though because of the great members) Black Ops is good because it brought me here. Battlefield 3 will be a lot better and this whole MW3 thing makes me feel better because I don't have to worry about picking it up.

It seems that Infinity Ward is in love with "console like" gaming. Ranked matches are going to be like playing MW2 again. In fact, from the little bit I have looked at the game, it seems the only difference from MW2 is going to be maps and being able to play unranked matches on dedicated servers.

I myself will not be buying MW3 if they are going to completely ignore the PC players requests.
It's a shame too because BO is such a fun game with dedicated servers. Oh well...Bring on BF3!

I knew i wasnt going to buy this when i heard that CoD was to become/remain a yearly franchise.
After all the cash dropped on Black Ops(which lord only knows why i spent so much), i cant get behind CoD again.
Ill throw my money at EA, and maybe...MAYBE get MW3 when its on sale.

I wouldn't get it even on sale. They only thing they follow is the cash. If they see sales bellow Black Ops it is the only thing that will make them reconsider.
