Hey everyone, is this sounds long winded Im sorry.  I'll try to make this as quick as possible.

My mom has custody of my cousin who is bound to a wheel chair due to Cerebral palsy.  We purchased a mini van a while back to replaces a broken down full size handicap van and well we have had nothing but problems with it.

So here is what I would like to find.

A rear loading handicap van, good/great condition.  In Colorado these are very hard to find anything like this that isnt overly expensive.

What I can settle for is a consumer conversion van with a raised roof.  If I go this route I will need to install the rear lift myself but I have to have the extended roof so my cousin doesnt hit her head every time she gets in.

Please email me with any findings or any help you guys can give. aaron_romero [at] comcast [dot] net

Oh and this is who you are helping.....

And thank you for your help

Silent_Wolf I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything like this, but because I live about 30 min south of you, I don't know what I'll find.  Good luck!

Bill, thank for keeping your eyes open.  I dont make it down that way much and if you happen to see something on the side being sold privately, please let me know.

Jablon, I wanna keep away from Mini vans.  They are nice to look at but not piratical for creating a rear lift handicap van.  But thanks for looking

Is Michigan too far? How Much are you looking to spend?

Hey my friend, I will try and do what I can and it might be helpful in the meantime if you posted a picture of the vehicle you have in mind and any spec's.

No distance in the US is too far depending on the deal.

I know the phrase "Conventional Van" has been warped by ppl so this is an idea for the body style.

So image a person in a wheel chair that has a height of no more then 4 foot.

The lift will look like this:

and come out of the back doors of the van like this.

My mom has CNAs working for her so the van is needed for ppl that can walk and since there are so many ppl that drive it we dont want an extended van.

I know this sounds like a pain of request, but its safety for all and all is appreciated.

EDIT: we want a rear access van since its hard to find Handicap spots that allow for side ramp access.

Michigan is not too far, to help my mom out I would fly to the end of he earth, just not sure how I would get it back.

As for price, this is a picky one for my mom.  Im sure if we found a van with a rear lift and in good condition we can go 15K.  After that we would have to see.

Thanks again for all you help.

I asked the guys at work and the one I expect to be able to deliver is going to do some checking around for me. I will let you know if he turns anything up.
