Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you know what the "skill" stat is on the Stats page in Battlelog is? Right now mine is currently at 53 but looking at past games, I don't really get how it works... Here's a few examples....

Went 31-18, MVP of the map, and our team won.....yet my skill was -74

Next map, I went 34-14, MVP of the map, and our team won...but now my skill was +90

Here, I go 13-6, MVP of the map, our team won but my skill was -58

Anyways, I don't really care that much since I pride myself on my KDR anyways (@ 1.94K/D), but I would like to know what the significance of this measurement is....

So basically, this is what determines your skill level on your stats page:

• You gain/loose SL based on every confrontation with another player
• Killing a highly skilled enemy gives you more points than killing someone less skilled
• Points are not transferred from a player to another, they are simply added/subtracted based on the encounter and the SL of both parts (thus, after an encounter, one part may go up 50 points while the other loses only 20)
• The SL is used for matchmaking

soooo....chances are if your a pretty good player at a lower lvl, your skill will be really high since everyones a higher lvl than you, I can remember at one point my skill was in the 1000's, that's when I was obsessed with the sniper class and went like several games where I had 100 some kills and less than 10 deaths. Now I play almost exclusively as an engineer where I'm confronted with infantry and vehicles more regularly.

I think its mainly used for public matchmaking(or at least thats the intent).  Mine is currently at 159.  Ive also been playing a lot of different game modes, and i been easily jet biased lately.  I notice when that happens my skill goes down.  Its basically just about gettin down to the nitty gritty, and killing more people.  Also playing with people that have a higher "skill" level, as not only does it yield more points for a kill, but it also makes you a better player(or at least it should).

After seeing my skill level go from -91 to 340 in teh span of a couple games, I just assume it's determined from a point/kills curve, as in relation to the other players. I tend to ignore it, now.
