In spite of the console message to visit the boards if you want to join....

Thoughts on best way to fight the prevalent mistaken impression people have that to join BK they have to wait to be recruited?

I think people think clan oh you must be the best then be recruited when I believe our criteria is have fun be polite obey the rules. I personally was one of these wayward sheeple myself.

An answer to this might kick up the recruits!?

Maybe an alteration on the we are recruiting message. This leaves room for ambiguity. People think we cull on ability whence they show interest.

Personally, I'd just add some info the FAQ's.  I read all of them, and checked sticky's in the various forums, and It was never clear to me that I could apply without an invitation to join.  The FAQ does sorta touch on the notion of submitting an application, but I think there's room for expansion.

Going on TS and exchange with members help the process too. I'm not a BK yet but by chatting and earing others it help understanding the BK comunity.

Not to change the subject at all, and this would be mainly aimed at the graphics team, but why does your sig say BK if you aren't in BK? It would make the impression that you are in BK, which I think you should be.

If someone applies to BK do they get screened or is it anyone who applies automatically becomes a member. If they are screened then it is an application process and the wording should stay as is in my opinion.

How about "BK is accepting applications for membership" instead of "BK is recruiting".

We had the opposite problem at =CBBF=.  People got the impression that joining our forums was the same as joining our group as a recruit.  We had quite a few folks putting on tags without our approval.  We are a "by invitation only" group.

• Adjust console message to a more friendly and clear message, ie. "Having fun?  Join us on TS and submit an application on our forums!"
  
  
• Make sure each BK member understands that they are all recruiters and ambassadors for BK, yuck it up with the guys not on TS and if someone has made an effort to join TS make sure to greet them and say hello.
  
  
• Clear and concise language as to the consistent application process.
