Well its time for an upgrade.  I need to get a new board and cpu.  I looking at getting the Asus Crosshair V board but not sure what CPU to get.  Of course I would like to stick with AMD.  I do have water cooling H110i I think.  Memory is good and currently running 2 x R9 270X.  fx-9590 or fx-8350 or ?

Go Intel, talk to Goober about AMD. He had a big AMD Chip and I talked him in going with a i5 devils canyon and it blew away the AMD.  You don't need a big fancy MOBO unless you want to take the CPU to the limit or break records. Just go with one that's built around gaming.  Right now u can get a i7 4790k Combo cheap and that will walk over any AMD chips.

I have the i5 Devil's Canyon...couldn't be more happier...and remember, most games run off of Memory and GPU, so you don't need all that fancy CPU power!!!  Though, the i5 is above and beyond most AMD's and will give you more than enough power for your needs!!!

I was a diehard AMD fan boy for years until Johnnie convinced me to try Intel. I wont ever go back. Yes AMD is cheaper and will work for a budget pc build  but the Intel quadcores will stomp all over the AMD 8 core line right now.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2543214 Look at this combo. the intel 1150 boards are being phased out for the 1151 socket for the skylake chips. this upgrade will last a lot longer than the other combo you are looking at . it also depends on your budget.

I know I am late to the party, however I just built a computer and I chose the i5 6500 with an AsRock 170 motherboard. I dont overclock but this has a option in the bios to overclock your RAM if you have ram that supports it. You can also turbo your processor to boost it a bit.
