Most definitely different and unexpected ,
I like how you have drawn my eye to the top right corner to what looks like to be a ink splat
very Arty.
The colours are very catchy and remind me of the pop art visual art movement,
that emerged in the mid 1950s in Britain and in the late 1950s in the United States.
the simple grim faced head stands alone grinning blank faced and lost.

Honestly, I have another one in the works. This was just too funny to pass up.
The Character head is from a game called Grim Fandango released by LucasArts in 1998.
Yes, that would be an ink splat in the top right, but for 100 points can you tell me what the magenta dot pattern is called?
Also, good guess on the 1950s pop art, but these particular colors happen to come from 80's advertising and fashion, like this example:
